Retail Tech Tidbits: Venmo Exits Amazon, Carter’s Speeds Up Deliveries

Starting January 10, Amazon will no longer offer Venmo as a direct payment option on its platform, just over a year after introducing the service. Although customers can still use their Venmo debit or credit cards for Amazon purchases, the platform will no longer allow the addition of Venmo as a payment option.

The initial launch in October 2022 aimed to provide customers with convenient and user-friendly payment choices. Venmo’s parent company, PayPal, had struck a deal with Amazon in 2021 to enable Venmo payments on the platform.

In a separate development, Carter’s, Inc. has teamed up with Shipt for its same-day delivery strategy, integrating the service ahead of the holiday season. Shoppers can now access all Carter’s brands on the Shipt Marketplace and the Carter’s app for same-day delivery of family products in various U.S. markets served by Shipt.

The delivery network spans major cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York, covering 80% of households in the United States. This partnership allows Carter’s to offer quick solutions for parents, addressing needs such as emergency outfit changes, growth spurts, and more through the convenience of same-day delivery. Shipt, owned by Target, plays a crucial role in powering last-mile delivery services for the retail giant nationwide.

Parents rejoice! Children’s clothing retailer Carter’s is teaming up with Shipt to offer same-day delivery on all their adorable outfits. This means you can order that perfect little onesie or cozy pajamas and have it delivered straight to your door in just a few hours. No more last-minute trips to the store! Just imagine those extra snuggles and naptime stories you can squeeze in.

That’s all for today’s retail tech roundup! Stay tuned for more updates.
