Middle Eastern Designers Shine at BAFTAs as A-list Stars Grace the Red Carpet
At the 77th British Academy Film Awards in London, the red carpet was adorned with the creations of Middle Eastern designers, captivating the attention of attendees and fashion enthusiasts alike. Renowned names such as Ashi Studio, Elie Saab, and Tony Ward showcased their exquisite designs on A-list celebrities, adding a touch of glamour to the prestigious event.

Lebanese Italian designer Tony Ward’s black gown, adorned with an off-white ruffle, adorned the statuesque figure of US model and actress Molly Sims, while Sabrina Elba dazzled in a sculptured gown from Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi’s label Ashi Studio. The gown, a highlight from Ashi’s Spring/Summer 2024 couture collection, emphasized the elegance and sophistication synonymous with Middle Eastern fashion.
British actress Emily Blunt shimmered in a nude-colored creation from Lebanese designer Elie Saab’s couture collection, while Fantasia Barrino Taylor made a bold statement in an all-red ensemble by Moroccan-born couturier Mohamed Benchellal.
Aside from the fashion spectacle, the awards ceremony celebrated cinematic excellence, with “Oppenheimer” emerging as a major winner, clinching seven prizes including best picture and best director. Christopher Nolan’s victory for best director marked a milestone in his career, while Cillian Murphy’s portrayal of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer earned him the best actor accolade.
Emma Stone’s performance in “Poor Things” earned her the title of best actress, adding to the film’s success in multiple categories. Additionally, “The Zone of Interest” garnered acclaim, winning prizes for best British film, best film not in English, and outstanding sound design.
Hosted by David Tennant, the ceremony was a glittering affair, offering a glimpse into the world of British cinema and setting the stage for the upcoming Oscars.
