Khadi Fest 2024 Showcases the Future of Textile Industry in Dhaka
Textile: Dhaka recently hosted a two-day Khadi Festival, organized by the Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB), under the theme ‘Khadi: The Future Fabric Show.’ The event featured an exhibition and fashion show, emphasizing the immense potential of Khadi in shaping the future of the textile industry.
President of BGMEA Faruque Hassan expressed delight at the festival, emphasizing its role in celebrating cultural heritage and promoting sustainable practices. The collaboration between BGMEA and FDCB reflects a commitment to supporting initiatives that advocate for ethical and environmentally conscious fashion.
The festival served as a platform to showcase the creativity of designers and the craftsmanship of artisans, highlighting Khadi as a sustainable and eco-friendly fabric. Milon Chisim, Owner of the Tribal Crafts, emphasized the significance of such festivals in promoting awareness of local, indigenous products and supporting artisans.
Sponsors including Maya, BGMEA, HSBC, Berger, Rupayan Group, and Buy Here Now contributed to the success of the event. The festival featured a captivating runway show unveiling future fashion trends in fabric and innovative products. The exhibition zone showcased the work of 35 Bangladeshi exhibitors, offering a diverse range of accessories made from Khadi.
The Khadi Fest 2024 aimed to celebrate Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage while promoting Khadi as a symbol of sustainable fashion. The seminar sessions provided valuable insights into the role of Khadi in sustainable practices and ethical fashion, contributing to the industry’s progress towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
