The MoU outlines key areas of collaboration, including knowledge exchange, student placement, upskilling/reskilling initiatives, and joint research projects. The signing ceremony, held in Ebène, saw the participation of key figures, including the Minister of Industrial Development, SMEs, and Cooperatives, Mr. Soomilduth Bholah. Minister Bholah emphasized the potential benefits of this collaboration, noting that aligning educational programs with industry requirements produces graduates equipped with relevant skills. This alignment, he stated, enhances innovation, job readiness, and overall growth. The Minister sees such partnerships as essential in developing a workforce that can compete globally. The textile and clothing sector in Mauritius plays a significant role, providing employment to over 21,700 individuals and contributing to economic growth. Minister Bholah expressed confidence that the collaboration between CTL and ADI would have a positive economic impact, fostering innovation and sustainability in the fashion and textile industry. Director of ADI, Dr. Sabrina D. Ramsamy-Iranah, highlighted the MoU's significance as a public-private partnership for innovation. She emphasized the potential to redefine education and industry landscapes, providing students with real-world exposure and professionals with opportunities for growth and skill acquisition. CEO of CTL, Mr. Eric Dorchies, lauded the collaboration, stating that it would benefit both young graduates and energize the CIEL Textile Group and the industry as a whole. He appreciated the Government's visionary approach in recognizing the crucial role of education in supporting the industry. This partnership is poised to bridge the gap between academia and industry, translating theoretical knowledge into practical application. As a pivotal step toward industry growth, the collaboration signifies a shared commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable practices in the textile sector.
