Ten Pakistani companies are participating in the 31st Dakar (FIDAK) in Senegal
Ten Pakistani companies are currently participating in the 31st Dakar International Trade Fair (FIDAK) in Senegal, showcasing a diverse range of products until December 31. The primary objective of these exhibitors is to explore the Senegalese market, establishing strong business partnerships and introducing high-quality Pakistani products to Senegal and the broader West African region.
The products on display cover a wide spectrum, including sports goods, surgical instruments, textiles catering to men, women, and babies, cosmetics, leather goods, furniture, jewelry, and handicrafts. The initiative is organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Senegal, which has coordinated several activities to maximize opportunities for Pakistani traders to develop business linkages.
To mark the significance of the event, the pavilion was inaugurated by the Commerce Ministers of Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire. Social media campaigns have been launched to publicize and promote the showcased products, and an Open House “Journee du Pakistan” (Pakistan Day) at the stalls was organized to engage with visitors and highlight the diversity and quality of Pakistani goods.
In addition, the embassy facilitated the participation of Pakistani exhibitors in a business networking gala dinner, labeled “Textile Night,” organized by the Senegalese Textile Association. This provided a platform for meaningful interactions and discussions on potential collaborations.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Embassy celebrated Pakistan Day, “Journee du Pakistan,” at the Pakistan Pavilion within FIDAK 2023. The festivities included the echoing of Pakistan’s famous anthem “Dil Dil Pakistan,” and visitors were treated to Pakistani snacks. The event showcased the warmth of Pakistani hospitality, and attendees were presented with footballs and other souvenirs from the stalls.
The FIDAK was inaugurated on December 15, 2023, by the Minister for Commerce, Local Consumption, and SMEs of Senegal, Abdul Karim Fofana, and the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and SME Promotion of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire, Souleymane Diarrassouba. Both ministers visited and inaugurated the Pakistan pavilion, expressing appreciation for the quality of “Made in Pakistan” products.
This participation builds on Pakistan’s previous engagement, as it officially participated in the 29th FIDAK as the Guest of Honour Country in 2021. The diplomatic mission, in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority (TDAP), encouraged companies to showcase their products at FIDAK 2023, fostering economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Senegal.
In conclusion, this participation not only serves as a platform for business development but also enhances cultural exchange and diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Senegal. The showcasing of a wide array of products demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to exploring new markets and establishing mutually beneficial relationships in the African continent.
