The National Textile University (NTU) in Faisalabad is set to host the 3rd International Conference on Knowledge-based Textiles on the 5th and 6th of March. This event, a hallmark in the world of textiles, is organized under the Grand Challenge Fund Project (KnowTex), backed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. It aims to address the critical aspects of value addition in textile products and to formulate a scientific approach towards diversifying products for sustainable growth in the textile sector.

The conference is a gathering of the minds, bringing together leading academic scientists, research scholars, and industry experts. They will delve into discussions and share their insights across various themes such as textiles and composites, circular and smart textiles, natural fibers, and innovations in textile production, among others.

This initiative is not just an academic exercise but a strategic move towards bolstering Pakistan’s economy through enhanced textile exports.

An impressive lineup of over 30 international speakers from countries including the USA, UK, Indonesia, China, Qatar, Spain, and many others will grace the event, making it a global platform for sharing knowledge and expertise in textile innovation. The participation of all major textile institutes and leading industries in the conference underscores its significance as a premier scientific event in the country.

The conference schedule is packed with enriching activities aimed at fostering innovation and sustainability in the textile industry. A pre-conference workshop on the 4th of March will focus on integrating circularity into textile value chains, a concept crucial for the future of sustainable textile production.

Additionally, the Interloop Textile Innovation Exhibition and the Innovation Awards ceremony, scheduled for the 6th of March, will showcase groundbreaking innovations in the sector, highlighting the importance of circularity and sustainability.

With over 250 delegations, more than 40 innovative projects, and representation from 25 universities, 100 industries, and 6 textile associations, the conference promises to be a melting pot of ideas and innovations. Participants include major associations like PHMA, PRGMEA, APTMA, APBUMA, CLOA, and the Dyes & Chemical association, all converging to discuss, debate, and devise ways forward for the textile industry.

This year’s International Conference on Knowledge-based Textiles at NTU is more than just an academic event; it’s a strategic initiative to push the frontiers of textile innovation, promoting sustainable practices and value addition.
