Pakistan’s Planning Minister Urges Chinese Businessmen to Utilize SEZs

In a recent meeting, Pakistan’s Planning Minister convened with a delegation of eight Chinese businessmen to explore avenues of collaboration between the two nations across various sectors. The discussions aimed at fostering business expansion and identifying new investment opportunities. The diverse delegation represented industries such as import and export, technology, electronics, machinery, office supplies, apparel, and building materials.

During the meeting, the minister underscored key sectors for potential Chinese investment, emphasizing Agriculture, IT & Telecom, Mines & Minerals, and Energy. Notably, he highlighted the immense potential of utilizing Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and expressed the country’s eagerness to welcome Chinese investors for joint ventures and industry relocations.

The minister drew attention to Pakistan’s demographic dividend, with more than 60 percent of the population being youth, offering abundant business prospects, particularly in the burgeoning IT sector. He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing a secure business environment, making investor facilitation a top priority.

“Our government’s utmost priority is a one-window operation for foreign investors, ensuring security and comfort in our industrial zones. We encourage B2B investments and invite businesses to explore opportunities in sectors like agriculture, food, IT, Artificial Intelligence, and industrial cooperation,” stated the minister.

Furthermore, the planning minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), notably highlighting the flagship program, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships was echoed throughout the discussions, signaling a collaborative effort towards economic growth and development between Pakistan and China. As both nations strive to enhance cooperation, this meeting serves as a pivotal step toward unlocking the full potential of their economic relationship.
